Isabelle paints and draws everything from portraits to landscapes but prefers to make still life arrangements in her studio using beautiful natural light. She enjoys making careful design arrangements of everyday objects using different colour harmonies. Her work is non narrative and contemplative as she strives for visual poetry.
She was born in Montreal, Canada and graduated from the Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal (1995) and received her Master of Music Degree from Rice University (USA) in 1998. The same year, she emigrated to Australia and worked as a musician in Sydney for several years.
Although Isabelle has been making paintings and drawings all her life, she left the music scene and turned to visual arts completely in 2006, after enrolling at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney. After several years, she further pursued her atelier training overseas, at the Atelier de Bresole in Montreal (2011) and at Studio Escalier, France from 2012-2017.
Through all the years she spent acquiring her skills, she has been a finalist in many competitions in Australia and overseas and has more recently won the Henry Jones Art Prize in 2021 for her portrait “By the River”.
In recent years, she has exhibited with Colville Gallery where she has had four successful solo exhibitions. Her work is collected in Australia, North America and in Europe.
